Last week?s DFBC qualifier came down to the last at bat. Literally. And Sean ? rockem73 ? wound up prevailing. Sean, who is 38 and lives a stone?s throw from the Rangers? ballpark, is a safety manager at a vehicle assembly plant. He was also kind enough to speak with us quickly about his recent win. Plus be sure to enter this week?s DFBC qualifier.
How does it feel to have locked up a spot in the DFBC Final?
Lucky!!! It is the only tourney I have won so far, and I have started to play regularly. I am new to fantasy baseball, and still learning. There are a lot of great players on the site that beat me like a drum daily. I hate to admit it, but this is a case of better to be lucky than good.
Who was your most important player on Friday?
The Texas Rangers, but specifically Nellie Cruz. Huge bases loaded triple late in the game vaulted me up to the top. I work a few minutes from Rangers ballpark and am a season ticket holder. I obviously love to play Rangers in my line up and they came through for me.
You won by a razor thin margin. What was that experience like?
I have the MLB package and was following Joe Mauer and Vargas from claysilver. I had around a 3.5 point lead knowing Vargas had one more inning left. Then Mauer got on and scored and suddenly I was a strike out by Vargas from losing. The last Padre batter looked horrible and was in an 0-2 hole, and then managed to pop out. It was definitely a dramatic finish.
You?ve been on FanDuel for a while now. What do you like most about it?
I like the daily action. You can do horrible one day, and start fresh the next. You can tell that picking good line ups is a skill. That is why the same names are around the top all the time. It a good challenge to figure out how to be up there with them. I guess I better get better before 9/9.
How did you originally find out about FanDuel?
I found it from a internet search and thought I would try. I had played at another site for a short time, but found Fanduel to be much better. I love the daily tourneys.
What will you do if you win the $25,000 first place in the Finals?
Unfortunatley I told my wife what happened. I need to learn to keep my mouth shut. She always has good ideas how to spend money. She wants a nice covered patio or a kitchen remodel. That would wipe it out pretty quick. Maybe she will forget, because I am thinking Vegas baby!!!!!
