Dr Reddy speaks at pre-meeting focused on the parallels between HIV and NCDs >

World Heart Federation Board member Dr Srinath Reddy, is speaking at the 6th International Aids Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2011) pre-meeting (15-16 July) which will focus on the parallels between HIV and non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Due to?the increasing burden of NCDs in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC), and growing recognition that cardiovascular disease and other NCDs are now the world?s leading cause of mortality, the NCD Alliance is co-sponsoring the event which will emphasize the need to explore ways in which HIV scale-up may be leveraged to strengthen chronic disease services.? Discussion will ensue around ways of informing, enhancing, and energizing the systems required to provide continuity care for the millions in need.
