Exactly how Mountain Bike Gears Perform ? ArticleCatalog.net

The gears of a mountain bike are consistently developing.

They just become more advanced. The theorem connected with all the mountain bike gears is that it permits the biker to revolve the pedals at a regular speed in any case of any kind of downward slope or upward slope the mountain bike is on.

At present, mountain bike?s gear can now have as much as thirty gear proportions. An MTB may use a combo of three totally different sized parts attached to the crank and ten attached to the rear wheel that makes gear proportions. These gears are connected by a single chain ; the chain can change from parts to gears by the usage of the deraileurs ( one on front one on the rear ) which are managed by the shifting panels that are attached on the handlebar. He larger the sprocket being used on front gear of a common mountain bike, the speedier it revolves the rear wheel with less strokes on the pedal, meaning the larger the sprocket on front the quicker.

The 3 front sprockets are also called the chainrings, essentially the Heavy, the middle and the grandmother gear, since the heavy gear is the most important sprocket it?s the fastest, though it was called heavy since it needs more power to revolve it. The middle one is where you wish to put you gear much of the time, since its weight is just acceptable for about any terrain. Now the grandmama gear is what you used on an exceedingly steep climbs, this gear is sometimes called the rescue gear since this is your last option if you?re too knackered to climb a vertical slope. If you still cannot climb with this gear the sole choice remaining is to get off your cycle and walk. It is the other way round, when talking about the gear at the rear wheel, the larger the part the tiny the revolution of the wheel and the simpler for the pedal to bump.

The majority of the mountain bikes today have nine gears at the rear, but there are at present ten parts rear gears that are currently available in the market. Off-road bike gear proportion or pace is the rate from which your legs revolve matched against the rate at which your mountain bike?s wheels roll. To have a deeper understanding of this, let?s do a little maths ; imagine a cycle with only an one gear ; Each single spin on the pedal the rider makes will give one complete spin to the rear wheel also, that could be an one is to one ( eleven ) proportion.

Therefore if the bike?s back wheel has a diameter of 20 6 inches, then with eleven gear proportion, one complete switch on the cranks will give us an end result of 81.6 inches of ground being covered by the of the rear wheel, how did we get that? That will be the Rim of a Circle with a diameter of twenty-six, fundamentally that will be Pi ( 3.14 ) x twenty-six. Fundamentally , in this gear proportion, in a speed of twenty-five revolutions per minute, your mountain bike can go as quick as 170 feet per minute. Converted to Miles per hour , it is just 1.9 MPH, same speed as when you?re walking. If you?re in a steep climb this would be appropriate, if you are in a flat road, you have got to kick the pedal quicker to overtake on a walking person. This setting on the gear will wear you off simply since you use more staying power, and will take a bit for you to bike from point A to B. You?ve got to shift to a higher gear to make your mountain bike quicker with less stroke on the pedal, it?ll also use way smaller staying power, however you have got to use a bit more of your leg muscles, at the end, it?s still better to use larger gearing proportion on a level surface terrain. In a downward, shifting to a higher gear would also be good since you can go quicker in a flash where you actually need to, like avoiding stumbling blocks and to keep balance. On a standard 20 7 speed MTB, you will not notice much the difference from six of all of the gear proportions, since they?re really close to one another. Base from my own personal experiences and other bikers, we are probably going to find a gear on the chainrings fitted for the track we are riding on and keep it going, although the chainrings is tough to shift when on serious load. The gears on the rear are way easier to shift. You could find this tip handy : in an exceedingly steep hill climb, pick the tiniest sprocket on the chainring and the rear wheel gear, and just shift to a larger gear on the rear as the pedal becomes heavier. Since it very hard to shift the front gear while climbing and it?s simpler to shift to the parts at the rear gear, it is better to have as many speeds to shift for at the rear gear. To sum it up, trail bike gears are very necessary, just because they control your bike?s total speed.

Noncustodial Parents Face Extra Challenges to Stay Involved With ...

The prevalence of divorce causes the separation of many parents from their children. That makes it more difficult for both parents to have the same quantity and quality of time with their children. This is regardless of the level of custody.

Relocation adds another caveat. The economy drives some families to move where there are more job opportunities. Some divorcees desire to be closer to other friends or family members, especially elder parents who may need extra care.? The added distance creates another challenge. Now 1 parent has to either drive farther or fly, both of which add time and money spent. This doesn?t include the time or money the parent desires to spend with the child.

Another obstacle that I hear too frequently is how one parent ?sabotages? the relationship between the child and the other parent by saying bad things about the other parent. Parental Alienation Syndrome is also common. Children are very impressionable, and most tend to believe their parents. It creates confusion and hurt feelings in the victimized parent, especially if the child decides to not see or talk to the distant parent ? either less frequently or not at all. The psychology behind how and why the child believes anything negative of a parent is content for another article. Below are a few suggestions for parents who feel alienated and want to stay connected to their kids:

1) Be consistent. Regardless of what is said or done by your child or ex-spouse, call frequently. Leave voice-mail messages or send text messages saying you are thinking of the child and wishing the best. Do this even if you don?t receive a response.

2) Keep your poise. As frustrating as it is, and as much as it hurts your feelings, try to stay calm and not seem irritated when talking to either your child or ex-spouse. Remember your goal to stay involved. If you are irritated and your relationship is already strained, expressing deep feelings will probably come across the wrong way and lead to an argument. With limited time over the phone, keep your conversation light-hearted.

3) Send gifts. Don?t miss birthdays or holidays. On occasion, if/when possible, send something ?just because?.

4) Try to repair hurt feelings between you and your ex-spouse. This doesn?t mean you want to get back together or that you need to be ?friends?. Be polite, courteous, and ask genuine questions about their well-being.

5) Consult a professional if these suggestions are too challenging for you to accomplish on your own. I highly recommend an expert trained in step families, especially if your ex-spouse is already involved in another relationship or you suspect Parental Alienation Syndrome. It helps to talk to somebody who understands what you?re going through. A support group may help as well.

Awesome New Bright-Eyes and Bushy-Tales ... - Fitness Health and Food

While Nick and I are finishing our journey to D.C. I am so pleased to share another awesome guest post courtesy of Jessica from Bright-Eyes and Busy Tales! Jessica is a fellow Chicago blogger who shares delicious healthy recipes, fun workouts, and creative tips for staying healthy despite a hectic schedule. In fact, Jess was nice enough to find the time to put together an awesome new workout and playlist for all of you despite being in middle of studying for the Illinois bar exam!

I highly recommend popping over to Bright-Eyes and Bushy Tales to say hi to Jess. Not only does she share wonderfully helpful information but her upbeat and outgoing personality always shine through her posts and make me smile!

Awesome New Bright-Eyes and Bushy-Tales Workout and Playlist

Hi fitness health and fooders! :)

I?m Jessica, and I blog over at Bright-Eyes & Bushy-Tales!

clip_image002

I am a 25-year-old lover of life with a huge passion for fitness and, of course, FOOD!

I spent most of my younger years enjoying a quieter life back in Indiana, until I got my big girl pants on and moved to the beautiful city of Chicago (we will miss you Jenny!!) with my boyfriend, Justin.

clip_image004

{Kinda cute, ain?t he?}

I am going to be an attorney by trade (that is?if I pass this little thing called the Bar Exam at the end of July!), but blogging is now an amazingly rewarding hobby of mine that I enjoy in all that ?spare time? I think I have! ;)

clip_image006

{Nerd Alert!}

I blog daily about my ?stories? (hence the ?tales,? clever, dontcha think?!) of the healthy life I *try* to live each day. I emphasize the *try* because I am definitely still learning, and I am sharing it all with you along the way!

While I talk about all sorts of shenanigans on BEBT, the blog is part food (I share all my healthy-ish recipes!), part fitness (including lots of kick-booty playlists), part mental wellness (I dish out ?doses of happy? on Mondays), a little bit of ?fashion,? and a lot of life stories mixed in.

I am a HUGE Jenny and Fitness Health & Food fan, so I jumped at the opportunity to share a little of her space with a guest post!

Today, I want to give you guys a couple of fun ?tools? to add to your sweat sesh arsenal!

{Sweaty Betty Crocker}

I have been loving on the treadmill lately, but I get bored really easily, so I started coming up with some interval sets that make the time fly by (and keep my attention from wandering off to the crazy person inevitably always in front of me running at a constant 10.0).

Since I have been enjoying these sets so much lately, I have decided to share my latest combo with all of you! Woo to the hooo.

This one, I call the ?Gotta Get Up & Get Down Set,? and it goes like this:

Gotta Get Up & Get Down Set
Minute Incline Speed
0 to 4 6 4
4 to 6 1 6
6 to 7 1 7
7 to 7:30 1 8
7:30 to 8 1 9
8 to 10 6 4
10 to 12 1 6.2
12 to 13 1 7.2
13 to 13:30 1 8.2
13:30 to 14 1 9.2
14 to 16 6 4
16 to 18 1 6.5
18 to 19 1 7.5
19 to 19:30 1 8.5
19:30 to 20 1 9.5
20 to 22 6 4
22 to 24 1 6.2
24 to 25 1 7.2
25 to 25:30 1 8.2
25:30 to 26 1 9.2
26 to 28 6 4
28 to 30 1 6
30 to 31 1 7
31 to 31:30 1 8
31:30 to 32 1 9
32 to 35 6 4

If those 8s & 9s freak you out, I totally get it, about a month ago I wouldn?t set foot on a speed over 7?noooo thank you!!

However, if I drink my go-go juice (lots of h2o) and put on a brave face, I can now tackle some 30-second sprints with the best of them, even with my short little 5?3?? legs. To get through them, I tell myself ?you can do anything for 30-seconds,? and focus on whatever goal I have at the time (post Bar-exam vaca bikini, anyone?).

This set is great for anyone who wants to experiment with some higher speeds, without getting too cray cray. I think it gives just the perfect amount of time to recover between sprints.

In addition to my issues with general treadmill boredom, I also suffer from M.A.D.D. Music Attention Deficit Disorder. I get bored with songs VERY fast, and I am not someone who can just press ?shuffle? and go (maybe it?s because of all of the NSync Christmas music I have on my iPizzle).

This is not the best thing for me, because my boyfriend constantly scolds me for how much dinero I spend on iTunes (gold star customer, hollaaa), but it?s a great thing for my readers because they get brand-spakin?-new, kick-booty playlists almost weekly.

And today, I?m serving my newest list up to you, and it?s a GOODIE. You?re welcome! ;)

{A little disclaimer ? if you don?t like country music, and if you don?t have the music taste of a 13-year-old, you might want to stop reading here.}

  1. Days Like These, Jason Aldean
  2. Uncharted, Sara Bareilles
  3. One Day, LMFAO
  4. Smoke a Little Smoke, Eric Church
  5. Moves Like Jagger (The Voice Performance), Maroon 5 [feat. Christina Aguilera]
  6. Liberty Walk, Miley Cyrus
  7. Crazy Possessive, Kaci Battaglia
  8. Better With the Lights Off, New Boyz [feat. Chris Brown]
  9. Love You Like a Love Song, Selena Gomez & The Scene
  10. Gunpowder & Lead, Miranda Lambert
  11. Perfect Two (Acoustic) (stretch those legs out to this one)

**All available for purchase on iTunes now!

This mix is about 39 minutes long, so it will get you through the Gotta Get Up & Get Down Set, and leave you a few minutes for that ever-important, post-sweat-sesh stretching.

It?s been so nice meeting all of you lovely readers! Do come by and see me sometime,

I love new friends! :)

Have a happy & healthy day, ya?ll!

xoxo

Jess

I think if you re-evaluate what you eat:quantities, and having a balanced plate at each meal especially, will get the fake pangs gone for good!
A balanced diet (or my take on it)
-breakfast
-mid day snack,if needed
-lunch (this is when you should eat the most, your digestion is the strongest between 12 and 1)
-mid afternoon snack
-light dinner
tips
-don't skip breakfast! have something substantial, such as oatmeal with fruit/peanut butter, whole grain porridge, whole wheat bread with nut butter, smoothie with fruit and peanut butter. If you skip breakfast, your hunger pangs, the real ones, will strike back with insatiable afternoon snack cravings!
-For lunch and dinner, make sure your plate is balanced and healthy: healthy carbohydrates (such as sweet potato, brown rice),whole grains (brown rice again, quinoa, millet, spelt, rye, tabouli,) protein (I am vegan so I don't know your equivalents;but veggie burger, hummus, edamame, tempeh, tofu),vegetables, and healthy oil/fat(avocado,olive oil)
-snacks shouldn't be too big,as you don't want to ruin your upcoming meal. Some fruit, whole grain bread such as pumpernickel or rye, carrot sticks, celery with peanut butter, whole grain crackers such as flax,or a few nuts.
-if you feel a sweet craving and want dessert, have some good dark chocolate or fruit! both very healthy for you.Just don't have the chocolate too late or the caffeine will keep you awake.

Let us know how it goes!

Amazing Benefits Of Fiber Internet Service

Fiber internet service has greatly revolutionized the way people run businesses. The emergence of such services has boosted the performance of online based businesses as well as those that are not online based but depend on at least something that is online for survival. With such services, things can only get better.

The most outstanding characteristic of these services is the speed. They are amazingly fasts making people who use them to carry out their duties at a much faster speed. For example, if you want to download files or upload them, then you can take less than half of the time that you would need if you did it with other services.

This means that the services have increased the output of workers who work in such businesses. If it can take one less than half the normal time they usually take to do tasks, then it means that they can do more than double the normal work using the same time. This is what every business wants.

Of course, if the speeds are high and the production rate is increased, then the business will realize more profits. What else can be more important for a business person than seeing his or her business grow and earn more profits? If this is the case, then it means that the welfare of everyone at the business starting from the lowest ranked workers upwards to the owners will be safeguarded. Everyone will be much more comfortable.

When you have a high speed connection, such as the one that fiber service provides, you will be surprised at how it can motivate your workers so much to produce even more. Everyone knows that human beings will always be motivated to work more when the working conditions are favorable and encouraging. With these services, work becomes enjoyable for all because the web becomes more fun to use.

If the workers are well motivated, then you easily will deliver efficient services to your clients. You also will have no problems with meeting deadlines even when the time given to you to complete the work is very short. The flow of work will be amazingly that the clients will be surprised at your new level of efficiency.

This can also help a business owner to retain the existing clients and to get new ones. No client wants to go to a service provider who takes too long to complete their work and who gives them poor quality services. When they know that they cam rely on you for faster services, they will come to you in plenty and you will earn more from them.

Finding Fiber Internet Service may not be hard when you know where to look for the reliable ones. If you are considering to find a reliable Fiber Internet Service, review the information available to find out more.

Milly Dowler case: Victims' tsar to act following family's court ...

Commissioner calls for changes in way witnesses are handled by judicial system as parents recover from 'shocking' treatment

Britain's courts will see sweeping changes in favour of the victims of serious crime in the light of the Milly Dowler murder trial, the victims' commissioner has vowed.

Louise Casey said she will put forward a report to the justice secretary Kenneth Clarke within the next two weeks which will conclude that the "shocking" treatment of the Dowler family during the trial of their daughter's murderer is just part of a wider picture that has seen dozens of relatives devastated by experiences with the justice system.

Casey, the commissioner for victims and witnesses, said: "My report's recommendations for change will be taken seriously and acted upon at the highest levels." She welcomed yesterday's comments from Mark Rowley, the chief constable of Surrey police, who said he was "shocked" by the way Milly's family were cross-examined and their personal lives thrown into the spotlight during the trial of serial killer Levi Bellfield, who was jailed for life on Thursday at the Old Bailey.

Rowley also called for changes in the way the courts treated witnesses and said it was a "most bizarre and distressing coincidence" that the Dowler family had their privacy "destroyed" at the same time as celebrities were granted super-injunctions to protect details of their personal lives. "Here is someone who doesn't want celebrity, whose daughter has been killed, but is being vilified and humiliated. It is completely incongruous and unnecessary."

He said that victims and witnesses were the "lifeblood" of the justice system. "Unless we treat them carefully and thoughtfully, fundamentally it undermines the system in the long term. Somehow we need to find a different way into the system that looks at, with equal vigour: how can we care for the victims and witnesses in these cases, while testing the evidence, and how do we protect privacy as well?

"I'm not saying, 'Never go personal,' but if you go personal then, for goodness sake, think about the dignity of the people involved. There needs to be stronger practice advice so judges are not worried about appeal by restricting defence questioning."

The director of public prosecutions, Keir Starmer QC, said the Bellfield trial had raised "fundamental questions" about the treatment of witnesses in the courtroom.

Casey said she welcomed the comments of both Starmer and Rowley. "I very much hope that the shock and anger that many people feel about the lack of dignity, respect and protection that the Criminal Justice System afforded to the Dowlers will mean that, when my report into the treatment of those bereaved by murder, manslaughter and culpable road death is published in the next couple of weeks, its recommendations for change will be taken seriously and acted upon at the highest level," she said yesterday.

Insiders said Casey had been moved by the families she had met over the past year and shocked by some of their experiences, and was in no mood to accept compromises on her recommendations.

Both Milly's parents had broken down in court after being cross-examined by a defence trying to prove she was unhappy and alienated from her family. But many legal experts are wary of change restricting every person's right to a full and vigorous defence.

John Cooper, QC, an elected member of the Bar Council and visiting Professor of Law at Cardiff University, defended the rigour of British justice system: "We should not let Levi Bellfield hijack the criminal justice system. The system and the process works well, day in day out, up and down the country. It is there to ensure there are no miscarriages of justice and the prosecution case is tested in accordance with the defendant's instructions, whether those instructions are palatable or not.

"It is important in any democratic society for a defendant's case, however repulsive it may seem, to be put at trial to be accepted or, as was in this case, rejected by a jury."

Mark Leech, editor of the national prisoners' newspaper ConVerse, said calls for reform were unnecessary: "The judge already acts as a safeguard to unnecessary and intrusive questioning which falls outside what is legitimate to the defence."

Cars Of Eastern Europe ? The Definitive History | David Marx:Book ...

Cars of Eastern Europe ? The Definitive History
By Andy Thompson
Haynes Publishing ? ?35.00

How do you double the price of a Skoda? Fill it up with petrol!
Have you got a wing mirror for a Skoda? Ok, seems like a fair swap!
So the collection of jokes on Skodas continue, until that is, you read this altogether wonderful and (surprisingly) interesting book, Cars of Eastern Europe ? The Definitive Story. For once having done so, you too, might glean a certain respect for the actual subject of such a derided quip as: What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof? A skip!

Okay, so I was initially drawn to this book by its exceedingly fab, retro cover. That, and the fact that I live in Berlin, where Trabants made in the former GDR can be seen dotted around the city as a sort of regal remembrance to that once great divide between East and West. It wasn?t until I actually settled down to read through this most informative and comprehensive of books, that the world of the automobile, pronounced an entire new meaning.

To be sure, lifelong car (and van) enthusiast, Andy Thompson, has herein written a very well researched chronicles on every type of East European vehicle imaginable. Its 409 pages will no doubt appeal to a variety of enthusiasts and kooky car buffs alike; as throughout, the author bequeaths readers with an array of historical facts, combined with each individual country?s economic situation and dilemma.

Lest one forget that a great deal of Eastern Europe was considered to be in freefall decline for many years. It had after all, forsaken much of the initial Industrial Revolution for that of Political Revolution. As such, by the middle of the twentieth century, its motor industry (with one or two exceptions) was still very much a cottage industry. The ever elongated battle between Capitalism and Communism sparked many a period of political turmoil, revolution and of course war, which inevitably shaped both the growth as well as the decline of Eastern Europe?s respective car industries. This is brought to bear on numerous occasions throughout. In the fourth chapter, ?East Germany? for instance, Thompson writes: ??Geographically, East Germany started life somewhat at a disadvantage to West Germany. It was a much smaller country, both spatially and numerically ? just under half the size and with a quarter of the population. Those factories inherited by the new country were, like much of post-war Germany, not in particularly good health. Zwickau, for example, had been heavily bombed during October and November 1944 by the British and Americans, half of the local car works being turned to rubble. And there was the thorny issue of reparations to contend with. The Soviet Union in particular was extremely keen to make sure that the Germans paid for the damage the USSR had suffered at the hands of the Nazis armed forces. At first they simply shipped anything of value back to Russia ? in 1945 and 1946 entire factories and railway lines disappeared on the back of east bound trains.??

With this in mind, it?s hardly surprising the East European motor industry was way behind that of France, Italy and ironically, West Germany. This is made more than evident in the book?s final chapter ?Romania,? where, under Ceausescu, the country?s: ??exports took precedence over all else and Romanians faced shortages of power, food, and consumer goods. Motorists in 1981 had to make do with just 30 litres (six gallons) of petrol a month. During the severe winter of 1984-85 private motoring was banned altogether. Not that there were many cars to buy. Between half and three-quarters of all Romanian car production was exported to anywhere that would take them. There was little thought given to long- term brand building or after sales service ? the priority was to shift the metal and get as much hard currency for as quickly as possible to pay back the international banks [?]. The Dacia saloon and estate, named the Denem, arrived in Britain in 1982 and were promoted with perhaps the most underwhelming advertising line of all time: ??The very acceptable Dacia Denem??

Succinctly divided into chapters by country (Bosnia, Serbia and Slovenia, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary, Poland and Romania), Cars of Eastern Europe ? The Definitive History is awash with inviting photographs ? old and new/colour and black and white. Thus prompting nostalgia, ridicule, amazement and ultimately, such interest that even my girlfriend had to actually read the book ? instead of merely thumbing through its pages.

Naturally, there are a number of dry facts and figures that may be considered essential for the car/motor enthusiast. We are after all, talking Haynes: yer car manual gods, so indeed, why not?

In all, a very absorbing book, that is a sure-fire credit to Andy Townsend. Not only does it invite and inform, it also evokes and amuses. What more could you possibly want from non-fiction?

Iran's supreme leader accuses US of terrorism (AP)

TEHRAN, Iran ? Iran's supreme leader on Saturday accused the United States of supporting terrorism, pointing to American drone strikes in Pakistan and Afghanistan that he said have killed scores of civilians.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said a country whose military forces are responsible for such deaths can't lecture the world about fighting terror.

Strong anti-U.S. salvos are heard regularly from Iran's leadership. Saturday's statement by Khamenei revealed the differences between Iran and the U.S. on the issue of who is a terrorist and who is a freedom fighter.

"The U.S. and the European governments that follow it describe Palestinian combatant groups who fight for the liberation of their land as terrorists," Khamenei said in a written message to an international conference on combating terrorism that opened Saturday in Tehran.

At the same time, Khamenei said, Israeli military strikes that hit civilians or assassinations of Palestinians by Israeli security agents are not condemned by the West as acts of terrorism.

Iranian leaders say Palestinian groups and the Lebanese Hezbollah are fighting to liberate occupied lands. Iran openly praises groups such as Islamic Jihad and Hamas, which have claimed responsibility for suicide bombings and other attacks.

Khamenei said Iran was a victim of what he called U.S. "terrorism" for the 1988 downing of an Iranian passenger plane by the warship USS Vincennes, which killed all 290 people aboard. The U.S. Defense Department said at the time that the crew mistook the plane for a hostile aircraft, which Iran rejects.

Later Saturday, Khamenei warned visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai that the United States is seeking to set up permanent bases in Afghanistan.

"Americans are after setting up permanent bases in Afghanistan. This is a dangerous issue. As long as American troops are based in Afghanistan, there will be no real security," state TV quoted Khamenei as saying.

The United States has said it will have all its fighting forces out of Afghanistan by 2014 and that the security of Afghanistan will be turned over to Afghan forces. The U.S. has not asked for any bases or centers to remain under its control.
