LONDON ? A British television station claims U.K. police officers are seeking to interview Guantanamo Bay detainees as part of an investigation into allegations that one of the country's intelligence officials was complicit in mistreatment.
Britain's ITV News reported on Friday that police had requested access to detainees being held at the prison camp in Cuba to discuss claims that an officer from MI6, Britain's overseas intelligence agency, witnessed abuse in Afghanistan.
Both police and Britain's Foreign Office declined to comment on the report.
Police have been investigating allegations that an MI6 officer was complicit in the mistreatment of a non-British citizen since Sept. 2009, when the agency reported one of its own staff to authorities.
