Too much wasn't enough for Chris on Tuesday night's "Biggest Loser."
By Ree Hines
Fresh from last week's makeovers, the contestants from "The Biggest Loser" looked forward to their promised meeting with First Lady Michelle Obama and a chance to make it one step closer to their ultimate weight-loss goals this week -- at least most of them did.
In part two of "The Biggest Loser" White House excursion, Chris enjoyed the Obama meetup as much as everyone else. Working out alongside the first lady, learning about the campaign to stem childhood obesity and discovering the role she could play in the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award were all satisfying. But the part about getting closer to her weight-loss goal? That fell apart.
The problems started when Chris decided to give her husband, aka ousted "Loser" Roy, a call to see how he was doing. As it turned out, Roy was depressed, and he seemed determined to drag his wife down with him.
"I guess the long and short of it is that I've been a little low, and it's been?... you know me," Roy cried into the phone before telling her, "There's no substitute for my wife."
For those who wondered what Chris was talking about in the very first episode of the season when she referred to Roy as co-dependent, wonder no more.
Maintaining her own side of the co-dep equation, Chris asked Roy if he needed her to come home, and he didn't hesitate before he said, "Yeah."
That's when Chris, undaunted by the cameras around her, launched into a full-fledged food binge. Surrounded by a room-service bounty of a hamburger, a grilled cheese sandwich, bananas, a jumbo chocolate bar, a big jar of peanut butter and an even bigger jar of mayonnaise, Chris started eating odd combinations of everything.
Each bite of the grilled cheese sandwich was covered in a fresh glob of mayo. The burger was coated in mayo and peanut butter. There was hardly a food configuration she didn't try.
"I did the only thing I knew to try to find comfort, and my comfort has always been food," she said.
Maybe, but it seemed just as likely that Chris piled on the mayo to intentionally gain weight and possibly leave the game without having to quit following that talk with Roy.
Just a theory.
After some tough talk from trainer Bob Harper, wherein he told her if she gave up on herself, there's no need for him to work hard for her, Chris claimed she recommitted herself to the competition. But by then, the damage was done. The scale revealed that she gained two pounds, putting her below the yellow line alongside Kim, who dropped two pounds.
It only took two votes to send Chris home, and Conda and Buddy provided them.
Do you think Chris' binge was purely emotional, or do you think it was part of an intentional plan to pack on the pounds and go home? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
